Tarot Spread Architecture
A spread is a set of questions arranged in space. Most readers inherit spreads without examining what each position is asking, which is why a familiar layout can produce a confident reading that answers nothing. This guide treats spread design as a discipline: define the question, decide what fields the answer requires, assign one field per position, and only then deal cards.
The material is arranged as method rather than as a catalogue. Eleven established spreads are analysed — including the three-card line, the Celtic cross, the horseshoe, and the year wheel — but each is used to demonstrate a principle: adjacency, hierarchy, temporal ordering, or the difference between a diagnostic and a prognostic position. By the final chapter you are constructing layouts for a specific enquiry and testing them against a control reading.
